Char Schwall has researched the early childhood educational system of the municipality of Reggio-Emilia, Italy, and has 20 years experience developing a Reggio-inspired school in the United States. She is currently the pedagogical coordinator for The St. Michael School in Clayton, where she previously worked as atelierista (studio teacher) for 20 years.

Publishing
Co-edited and co-authored the book, In the Spirit of the Studio: Learning from the Atelier of Reggio Emilia, published by Teachers College Press, as well as other articles and publications.
